Well its Friday already and I've been here on the Gold Coast for the week, attending the Sage-Au conference for System Administrators.
Smaller conference than last year, but kind of nice in that you can actually meet people more easily and spend more time sharing stories and asking "so what type of admin are you"
As usual lots of linux, Unix and other admins here, with a very heavy trend in that direction at lots of the lectures / training. Not unuseful to me currently, but makes me wish there was more Windows specific content, particularly in the first few days.
Socially its been great fun - actually was able to find $6 pints of Guiness on Monday night - needless to say, my head wasn't great on Tuesday morning.
Last night had lots of fun at Dreamworld - Tigers, high speed rides and good food / company.
Can't say that I'm going to get any significant leads from the conference for work, but again was a worthwhile cost to keep my motivation high for this field and what it could offer me down the line in terms of fullfilling my career goals.
